Tourist Activities For The Tawas Area

Find more about Weather in Tawas City, MI

Below you will find a list of things to do while in the Tawas area. These websites will provide you with not only information but also a one page brochure and an extensive "z magazine" describing the Tawas area.  We highly recommend the "Discover Heritage Route 23" web site as an initial starting point to learn more. Iosco County has a great one page Adobe brochure of the activities in the Tawas area.  Finally, the Chamber of Commerce has a very extensive Visitor Guide that lists just about everything there is to do while here.  Lastly, we listed a few other direct links for a calendar of events, maps, bird watching, hiking, fishing, hunting and camping in Tawas.  You will see that Tawas has many activities but you must leave some time to participate and enjoy the rowing, sailing, and building activities of the Heritage-23 Rowing and Sailing organization.

This is the "land of antiques"!  Chris Craft boats were built nearby.  The are many restored boats in the area.

Iosco County is where the AuSable River meets Lake Huron.  There are outstanding river and lake beaches to visit.  If hiking is one of you activities, the Shore to Shore Trail, beginning in Oscoda/Au Sable, connects Lake Huron to Lake Michigan.  There is an extensive new bike path through Tawas City and East Tawas to Tawas Point State Park & Lighthouse. The Tawas Point and Tuttle Marsh National Wildlife Area are premier locations for viewing migratory birds.
